On August 2, the government adopted a resolution that improved the process for holding green auctions for rights to construct renewable energy facilities, adopting European standards and practices. The auction procedure will become more flexible, transparent, and efficient. It will provide an opportunity to reduce the price of green electricity to a competitive market basis. Furthermore, it will allow the state to regulate the introduction of new renewable energy sources (RES) capacity, their types, and locations in accordance with the capabilities and needs of the energy system. Improving the procedure of green auctions will contribute to the further development of RES in Ukraine on a competitive basis and the fulfillment of the state’s strategic goal and international obligation to decarbonize the economy.
