Українські енергетичні компанії поглиблюють зв'язки зі міжнародними партнерами: про що домовились з Swedfund та Hyundai?

Tax incentives have propelled the construction of solar power plants in Ukraine, and experts predict an increase in wind power capacity.

The construction of solar power plants in Ukraine accelerated in 2024 because the state canceled duties and VAT payments for investors importing solar panels starting July 1, said Vladyslav Sokolovsky, Chairman of the Board of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine. He noted that the state’s decision encourages households, small, and medium-sized businesses to build solar power plants to ensure their electricity supply during outages. Solar power plants are now frequently installed alongside energy storage facilities, enhancing their efficiency.

In addition, the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association reported that 13 large wind turbines (ranging from 660 kW) with a combined capacity of 27 MW were commissioned in Ukraine last year. The statistics don’t include capacities created by households and communities unless a green tariff has been applied.

Experts believe that the wind capacity installed this year will be several times greater than in 2024. As well, the construction of wind farms could accelerate if the state provides tax incentives for investors to import energy equipment.
