According to the state tax committee, in 2022 Ukraine collected UAH 4.3B in Google tax. In the first quarter alone, companies paid UAH 1.9B in value-added tax on operations to provide electronic services. Companies including Google Play, Google, Etsy, Sony, Netflix, Apple, Meta, Valve Software, and Amazon contributed the most significant amounts.
Interestingly, the adult content sales platform OnlyFans collected $620,000 in tax and paid UAH 23.3M to the budget since the beginning of the year. The tax committee noted that the service has entirely left the Russian Federation and only finances the Ukrainian army.
Meta Platforms Inc. (Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram) paid $10.3M, and Google itself $5.7M. The tax payment deadline for the 1st quarter of 2023 expires on June 9, and more than ₴700M is expected to be received.
