Heorhiy Heletukha, head of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, listed these projects at an online event, Biogas and biomethane: Here are the new opportunities for Ukraine’s energy independence:
- A Hals Agro project in the Chernihiv region, with a capacity of three million cubic meters per year
- A project from the Vitagro Group of Companies in the Khmelnytskyi region (three million cubic meters)
- The Teofipol Energy Company’s project in the Khmelnytskyi region (56 million cubic meters)
- A Hals Agro project in the Kyiv region (three million cubic meters)
- A YUM Liquid Gas project in the Vinnytsia region (11 million cubic meters)
- A MHP project in the Vinnytsia region (24 million cubic meters)
- A MHP project in the Dnipropetrovsk region (11 million cubic meters)
As of March of this year, Ukraine has 77 biogas plants with a capacity of up to 260 million cubic meters per year. The technically achievable potential for Ukrainian biomethane production is up to 10 billion cubic meters per year, and by 2030, it is possible to reach one billion cubic meters per year.
