MIGA and the DFC are finalizing six Ukrainian projects with war risk insurance.

MIGA and the DFC are finalizing six Ukrainian projects with war risk insurance.

War risk insurance will initially focus on retail products.

One of the projects is the Dragon Capital Industrial Park, which recently received $9.2M in military risk coverage from MIGA, said Economy Minister Yuliya Svyridenko.

MIGA is working on two more projects, and the US International Development Finance Corporation has four. In addition, the EBRD is working to create a special fund for the insurance of property in transit and in warehouses against war risks.

“Eight donors have confirmed their participation of about €200M,” the minister clarified.

She warned that risk insurance projects at MIGA and the DFC involve complex due diligence procedures. In particular, the export credit agencies of France, Britain, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Austria, Denmark, Israel, the Netherlands, and Poland cover military risks for their companies.

“This does not completely remove the issue, but it increases the chances of such companies entering Ukraine,” Svyridenko said.
