Ma’Rijany Hemp Company plans to launch a plant for the primary processing of raw hemp materials (reeds) into long fiber (used to produce textiles, eco-building materials, etc.) in the Zhytomyr region, the company’s founder, Andrii Mykytiv, said. According to him, the plant is being built utilizing the existing Volodar-Volynsk flax plant, but after the reconstruction, there will be “a completely different plant with new modern equipment”.
“In September-October this year, we want to complete all construction and commissioning works. If everything goes according to plan, we will start production in mid-late November. We will harvest by then,” he noted, adding that the plant’s capacity in the first year of operation will amount to at least 3,000-5,000 tons of fibers per year, requiring the plant to process 11,000-13,000 tons of raw material.
In the future, Ma’Rijany Hemp Company plans to become the largest hemp processor in Eastern and Central Europe. The company will grow some of the necessary raw materials themselves (they rent 850 hectares), and the remainder will be bought from farmers.
