German logistics company HHLA has acquired a controlling stake in a multimodal terminal in Transcarpathia.

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has purchased a 60% stake in the Eurobridge multimodal terminal, situated in the Transcarpathian region. This terminal in Batiovo will operate as a joint venture entitled HHLA Eurobridge Batiovo, established by HHLA International GmbH in collaboration with Ukrainian company Fortior Capital LLC.

HHLA will hold a controlling stake and, together with its subsidiary METRANS, will participate in further development of the terminal. The deal awaits approval from Ukraine’s antimonopoly authorities.

The terminal is strategically located near the EU border, at the intersection of international railway corridors, providing access to both broad gauge (1,520 mm) and European gauge (1,435 mm) tracks. In the initial phase of expansion, the terminal will be capable of handling approximately 100,000 twenty-foot containers annually. Its capacity can be expanded, if needed.
