Veronika Movchan, an expert at the Institute of Economic Research, said during a presentation of a study on importers of Ukrainian products that goods from Ukraine do not play a crucial role in the total imports of most partner countries. Poland, Romania, Turkey, Moldova, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, China, and Slovakia have been identified as Ukraine’s key trading partners.
“Except for Moldova, where the share of imports from Ukraine reaches 12.1%, in other partner countries our share in total imports does not exceed 1.4%, and in China – only 0.2%,” said Movchan.
Moreover, even in those sectors where Ukraine holds significant positions (sunflower oil, waste after its extraction, iron ores, and concentrates), this does not imply a leading role overall. In the eyes of its partners, Ukraine appears more as one of many suppliers than a key player in the markets.
It is important to note that after the onset of the full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukrainian companies began to enter foreign markets more vigorously. Thus, Ukraine has started to gain recognition not only for its products but also for its presence in the markets in general.
