Jysk, an international home furnishing retailer, is opening a new store in Chernivtsi on Thursday, October 3, said Yevhen Ivanitsa, the Country Director in Ukraine. Since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, the company has invested UAH 400M ($10M) in opening 20 new stores, remodeling 17 existing stores, and repairing six damaged stores in several regions of the country. Moreover, the Danish retail chain plans to open more stores in the near future as a result of growing sales and the establishment of its strong position as a leading home goods chain in Ukraine.
The company is not only investing in the Ukrainian market but also increasing the purchase of furniture from local producers. According to the country director, in the last fiscal year Jysk purchased products worth ₴2B in Ukraine, most of which were exported to Europe. Moreover, since 2022 the company has purchased goods from Ukrainian manufacturers worth ₴4B and continues to look for reliable vendors to partner with.
During the War & Business conference on September 27, Yevhen Ivanitsa confirmed that during the war, the company increased the number of its employees and is working to expand its team.
