After completing development of the world’s largest aircraft, the Mriya, the state aerospace enterprise expects to have recouped its cost in 15 years, reported EP.
Before the full-scale Russian invasion, Antonov Airlines entire fleet of eight aircraft was making $30M a year. Mriya aircraft rarely found customers for its massive shipment capacity of 200 tons of cargo and could make two or three flights a week and then wait a month to find a new job. Anatov’s new management believes that it will be able to find customers and increase the new plane’s profitability.
The development of the new An-225 is preliminarily estimated at $500M, but it will be adjusted in the future. The final amount of the new Mriya’s construction will be known when the destroyed plane is disassembled and the first ground tests are carried out.
