Inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 4.8% in June compared to the same month in 2023, the State Statistics Service reports. At the same time, in the previous three months, this indicator went almost unchanged, amounting to 3.2-3.3%.

The sharp increase in June is associated with a 63.6% increase in electricity tariffs. Since June 1, consumer electricity tariffs have increased by 63.6% to ₴4.32 per kWh, regardless of consumption. Previously, the tariff was ₴2.64 per kWh. The share of electricity in the calculation of inflation is 1.7%. Thus, the increase in tariffs added 1.1% to inflation – that is, half of the increase in prices in June.

Also, in June, the cost of railway passenger transport and certain products rose in price. The largest increase is in eggs (by 15.5% compared to May). In monthly terms, inflation accelerated almost fourfold – from 0.6% in May to 2.2% in June. Since the beginning of the year, it is already 4.3%.
