AmCham and Deloitte survey results: How businesses in Ukraine are preparing for winter.

The vast majority (88%) of 139 companies, operating in various sectors of the Ukrainian economy, that participated in the survey are prepared for long-term power outages. 33% can provide their own energy supply for 24 hours or more. And 94% of respondents say they have a plan for surviving the winter or are developing a plan.

Generators are one of the most common energy sources and are used by 86% of respondents, 14% use solar panels, 13% use gas plants, 11% import electricity, and 1% each have bio-gas and wind plants. About 40% of enterprises try to diversify their energy supply by combining generators with other energy sources.

The most significant impact of prolonged power outages, reported by 62% of respondents, is increased financial costs for purchasing fuel and generators. Most companies also noted the high cost and insufficient spare equipment. The sales sector (35%), the production sector (32%), and IT (27%) suffer the most from prolonged electricity outages. Warehouses, logistics, transport, and offices are also significantly affected.
