A new $25M industrial hemp processing plant with an initial capacity of 4,500 tons per year will be opened in the Zhytomyr region.

A new $25M industrial hemp processing plant with an initial capacity of 4,500 tons per year will be opened in the Zhytomyr region.

The construction of a new plant for primary processing of industrial hemp has entered the final stage in the Ma’Rijany industrial park in Zhytomyr region. The launch of natural fiber and tinsel production is planned for March-April. The next stage will be yarn production.

The investment volume for the project’s first line amounted to about $25M, and the second line’s development will require a similar amount. The cost of the full launch of hemp fabric production will total $100-120M.

Ma’Rijany Hemp Company independently organized the cultivation of the first crop of technical hemp on 700 hectares. Next year, the sown area will be increased to 1,200 hectares and local farmers will be involved in 500-600 hectares of the project. In the first year of operation, the plant is expected to employ 200 workers and process 4,500 tons of raw materials. In the following years, the number of jobs will reach 700, and the processing volume will reach 12,000 tons.
