A large chain of supermarkets has invested more than ₴70M and seeks $15M more for its further plans.

Top manager of the Novus network, Dainius Tumėnas, said that Novus has already invested more than ₴70M in its energy efficiency program. Diesel generators are installed at 98% of facilities. One of the supermarkets in the Kyiv region is equipped with a solar energy system (SES), which provides 65% of the store’s electricity. Each new Novus store will eventually have its own SES. The company needs another $15M to implement these plans.

“This year, we are finishing equipping our large logistics center and other stores with solar panels. Additionally, we have launched a three MW project for 30 stores. We are purchasing equipment for projects already prepared for installing SPPs. We have also launched two more pilot projects to install gas generators,” Tumenas said.

“We are additionally installing storage devices that will allow us to work out the gaps in switching from the network to a diesel generator so that the store does not stop at all,” said Tumenas.
