President Zelenskyy stated that the Kursk operation has achieved several things. First of all, the occupation of the Kharkiv Region was halted. Ukraine had information about the Russian Federation’s intent to create buffer zones in Kharkiv Oblast and then in the north (Sumy and Chernihiv Oblasts).
It was possible to prevent this and break up a sizable grouping of Russian troops. The enemy transferred a portion of its troops from Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia to the Kursk region, but the enemy considered the Donetsk region to be a strategic area and kept their most prepared units there.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, confirmed that the Russian Federation has transferred almost 30,000 troops to the Kursk region. Despite this, the Ukrainian military controls 1,294 square kilometers and 100 settlements in this region. In addition, Zelenskyy says that Ukraine will present its “victory plan” to the US in September. It will be shared with President Joe Biden and presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
