Zelenskyy has signed a law authorizing the confiscation of Russian property in Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law, “On the basic principles of compulsory seizure in Ukraine of objects of property rights of the Russian Federation and its residents,” stated gov.ua. The law defines the legal basis for the forcible seizure of objects of property rights (including cases in which it is urgently required by military necessity) of the Russian Federation as a state that has launched a full-scale war against Ukraine and its residents. Therefore, according to the law, the compulsory seizure in Ukraine of the objects of property rights of Russia and its residents is executed without any compensation for their value, given the full-scale war of aggression that the Russian Federation unleashed and their conduct against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
