The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, does not mind Russian dictator Vladimir Putin being invited to the next Peace Summit. However, in his opinion Putin is unlikely to come, as he is “too scared” to sit at the negotiating table. Therefore, to have a peaceful dialogue with Russia, the participation of the US and China is needed.
Zelenskyy believes that Washington and Beijing should put aside their differences and act as joint mediators to end the war. Beijing should “pressure” Russia to end hostilities.
Meanwhile, a Kremlin spokesman said the Russian Federation will not consider the Turkish president as a potential mediator in peace talks with Ukraine. Putin and Erdogan discussed the war issue at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kazakhstan on July 3.
The Turkish leader offered to “lay the groundwork” for a compromise to end the war. Erdogan believes that Moscow and Kyiv could first agree on a ceasefire and then reach a peace agreement that will satisfy both sides.
