What worries foreign investors in Ukraine the most?

The yield on deposits in Ukraine is growing, and lending is recovering.

By order of the NBU, foreign investors cannot withdraw their dividends from Ukraine, which is the biggest problem with the inflow of investment, said the head of the EBA, Anna Derevyanko.

“If you look at the foreign audience, they are interested in Ukraine. We try to give them adequate, realistic information, but at the same time, try not to destroy their optimism. So that they maintain interest in Ukraine,” she said.

Derevyanko noted that many foreign investors ask: “If we invest, how will we collect our profits?”

This creates a situation where investors who live in Switzerland, for example, are charged with tax liabilities for the income they generate, but cannot receive, in Ukraine. It is clear that, for the sake of macroeconomic stability, it is not necessary to withdraw funds from Ukraine en masse.

“Perhaps this problem should be solved at the governmental level – so that at least other countries do not burden their citizens with taxes on income from Ukraine, which is currently impossible to withdraw,” she added.
