What happened in Ukraine’s land market in April?

Despite the war, Ukrainian farmland is becoming more expensive.

Analysts from the KSE Agrocenter notes that Ukraine’s agricultural land market continued to grow in April 2024. Purchase and sale agreement volumes were the largest since the beginning of the full-scale invasion with 10,200 agreements (+4.6% over March) with a total volume of 22,300 hectares (+0.3%). The share of purchases by legal entities was 20.2%.

Agricultural land purchases and sale prices in April remained at the January- February 2024 level. In April, prices were ₴41,500 ($1,029) per hectare for all agricultural land sold and ₴42,800 ($1,061) per hectare for commercial land.

It is noted that after the land market opened to legal entities on January 1, 2024through the end of April, 585 companies exercised the right to purchase agricultural land, of which 320 (more than 50% of companies) purchased at least one plot in April. Since the beginning of this year, legal entities have acquired 4,485 land plots with a total area of ​​13,000 hectares, of which 4,500 were acquired in April.
