What does Trump's peace plan for Ukraine and the Russian Federation envisage?

The America First Policy Institute, a pro-Donald Trump organization, has released a book outlining a national security strategy aimed at Trump winning the US presidential election. The book offers some guidelines for how the future presidential administration could approach the resolution of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

According to the AP, the book proposes a concept in which Ukraine “will not be asked to give up all of its territory”, but Kyiv must agree to diplomacy “with the understanding that it will require a future diplomatic breakthrough that probably won’t happen before Putin leaves his position”.

In addition, Russia may be offered an easing of sanctions, but at the same time, a special tax on the sale of Russian energy resources will be introduced to finance the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Also, Trump’s plan postpones Ukraine’s membership in NATO, and the complete lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation is possible only after the signing of a peace deal that will satisfy Ukraine.

However, the book notes that the US should provide future military aid to Ukraine only if it agrees to peace talks.
