The partnership will begin with the maintenance and repair of armored vehicles that have been transferred to Ukraine. Later, the partners will jointly produce Rheinmetall products in Ukraine and develop weapons and military equipment samples through the newly created joint venture. The joint venture’s launch is planned for mid-July 2023.
Information about the appearance of the Rheinmetall tank factory in Ukraine appeared at the beginning of spring. The head of the German company, Armin Papperger, said that the enterprise will cost €200M and produce up to 400 tanks per year.
Later, Papperger said that Rheinmetall plans to produce not only tanks but also ammunition and air defense systems in Ukraine. On May 12, Papperger informed the German media about the signing of a contract to create a joint tank enterprise with Ukraine.
