Ukrainian wind farm finishes first step of construction.

The first phase of the power plant, with a capacity of 114 MW, was built in the Mykolayiv region. The project coordinator plans to increase the wind farm’s total capacity to 500 MW, which would make it the largest in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, noted the State Energy Efficiency Agency.

The head of the department, Hanna Zamazeyeva, said that the first stage of the Tyligul wind farm is composed of 19 wind turbines that can produce 390 million kWh of electricity per year, providing power to 200,000 households. The new wind farm will reduce CO2 emissions by 400,000 tons per year.

According to Zamazeyeva, four planned stages of the Tyligul WPP are to be built in total, and by doing so Ukraine will achieve a 1.7 million tons per year reduction in CO2 emissions.

As was earlier reported, the National Plan of Action for the Development of RES until 2030 envisages nearly doubling the share of green electricity from 14% in 2020 to 25% in 2030. This will require the construction of 9.2 GW of new capacity, of which 3.7 GW are wind power plants.
