Including Ukrainian Railways (UZ) in the European TEN-T network will allow access to EU aid instruments. Within the framework of integration into TEN-T in Ukraine, it is planned to implement railway track development projects worth €4.5B by 2030, said the head of the Reform Support Team of the Ministry of Reconstruction, Iryna Koshel-Repnevska.
She notes that the European Commission changed the TEN-T indicative maps to include Ukrainian railway tracks. In particular, the North Baltic Corridor has been extended through Lviv and Kyiv to Mariupol, the Baltic-Black Sea Corridor has been extended through Lviv, Chernivtsi to Odesa, and the Baltic Sea – Adriatic Sea and Rhine-Danube corridors will pass through Lviv.
The official emphasized that including Ukrainian railway corridors in TEN-T and the associated access to financing are both investment opportunities for EU countries.
