Since the beginning of the war with Russia, Kyiv has been fighting the West’s reluctance to transfer new weapons to Ukraine, as it was feared that this would lead to an escalation of the conflict. Ukraine has urged its allies not to fear Russia and to supply weapons that will allow Kyiv to win, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, at the Campus Polska Przyszłości forum.
He added that if the fear of escalation had not been the main factor negatively influencing the allies’ decisions, then Ukraine would have been in a much better situation and would have received more weapons much earlier.
However, Kuleba admitted that the West’s escalation fears are waning. For his part, Serhiy Kyslytsia, deputy ambassador of Ukraine, at the meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, said that Ukraine, unlike Russia, carefully chooses military targets for its strikes so as not to destroy civilian infrastructure. Therefore, he called on Ukraine’s partners to remove restrictions on long-range strikes into Russia and to help shoot down Russian drones and missiles.
