In light of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, 20 major domestic companies have built 1.06 GW of generation capacity since the onset of the full-scale war and plan to expand this in the coming years, with a total of ₴28.9B ($690M) already invested and planned for investment. The leading companies investing in energy autonomy, developing their own generation, and enhancing the energy market include:
- Metinvest – the company has already invested and plans to invest further in energy projects with a capacity of 178 MW and ₴2.245B
- OKKO – approximately 158.1 MW, ₴12.3B
- Ukrnafta – approximately 360 MW, ₴3.7B
- Epicentr – approximately 125 MW, ₴5.4B
- ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih – approximately 85.8 MW, ₴1.3B
- Vodafone Ukraine – approximately 33.6 MW, ₴330M
- METRO – 33 MW, investment volume not disclosed
- Nova Poshta – approximately 14.1 MW, ₴450M
- WOG – 14 MW, ₴172.3M
- ATB – 12.5 MW, ₴256.1M
