Ukrainian and Canadian companies will jointly design a titanium plant in the US.

Ukrainian holding company will strengthen the US in the fight against China in the global titanium market by building a $100M plant.

As reported by the Ukrainian titanium ore mining company Velta, an agreement has been concluded with the international consulting company, Hatch, to design a titanium powder production plant in the US.

“This partnership allows the Velta team closer to presenting solutions from Ukrainian scientists to the US titanium market, which is dangerously dependent on external supply chains”, said the company’s general director. He expressed confidence that thanks to Hatch’s design experience, the plant will meet titanium demand quickly and efficiently for Ukraine’s allies.

The new plant will be one of the first in the US to operate based on Ukrainian technology with a low carbon footprint. It was developed based on the scientific center of the Velta company. The capacity of the first plant is designed for 1,000 tons per year of titanium powder with the potential for scaling in the future. The company also confirmed its intentions to build a similar plant in Ukraine.
