On November 8, the Russians attacked a port in Odesa with a Kh-31P missile and hit the Philippine bulk carrier Kmax Ruler under the flag of Liberia. As a result of the attack, the maritime pilot, a citizen of Ukraine, was killed and a port employee and three Philippian crew members were injured.
The Ministry of Infrastructure clarified that the Kmax Ruler was supposed to transport iron ore to China. This is the 21st targeted attack by the Russian Federation after withdrawing from the grain agreement.
To stimulate exports, Ukraine insured the passage of civilian vessels that enter Ukrainian ports. Therefore, following the accident, the government will take all necessary measures to protect cargo ships from further attack so they can continue entering Ukrainian ports.
The Ministry of Infrastructure claims that the traffic along the Ukrainian corridor has not stopped. Six ships with 231,000 tons of agricultural products have left the Greater Odesa ports. Five ships are waiting to enter the ports.
