On December 4, the EBRD will approve a loan of up to €180M to Ukrzaliznytsia to finance the purchase and installation of equipment for small gas-fired generation with a total capacity of up to 270 MW. This will help the company to solve electricity shortage problems and ensure an uninterrupted supply of energy to the population and enterprises. The project’s total cost is estimated at €248M.

The German Ministry of Economics is providing €65M to repair Ukrainian energy infrastructure through the Energy Support Fund. Ukraine accesses the fund to purchase spare parts and equipment to replace destroyed energy infrastructure. Germany’s total contribution to the fund will increase to €360M.

In turn, after consultations with the opposition, the Norwegian government proposes to increase assistance to Ukraine in 2025 to NRK 30B ($2.7B) from NRK 27B. In addition to military support, Norway intends for the money to secure and expand Ukraine’s energy capacity. Norway has also allocated an additional NRK50M ($4.5M) to the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative.
