Ukraine’s full economic integration into the European Union may take two to four years, said Ukrainian trade representative Taras Kachka. He explained that Ukraine has made great progress in the past years, and two to four years is an aggressive timetable. “Now is the most ideal geopolitical, economic, and development situation, according to which it is easy for us to integrate into the internal market of the EU,” Kachka believes. The official pointed out that Ukrainian society has high expectations regarding the requirements related to joining the EU. Ukraine has made progress in fulfilling the seven political criteria that must be fulfilled to start negotiations on EU accession. However, the EU assessment of their implementation by Ukraine are expected in the fall.
