Ukraine will restore only 7% of its power generation needs by winter.

РФ знову намагається занурити Україну у темряву, однак не може досягти цілі.

Before the heating season, Ukraine can restore 200-250 MW of generation (or 7.1%) of the required 3.5 GW, said Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center.

According to him, work is proceeding in many directions, and projects are already being implemented. However, even the joint efforts of businesses, municipal structures, and state-owned companies will, at best, result in an additional generation volume of up to 250 MW. The expert considers this new generation volume to be a good result.

By next year, it is possible to install an additional one GW to 1.2 GW of energy capacity (approximately 34-35% of needed capacity). This is a very short timeframe to create this much generation capacity, as implementing projects of this size typically requires three to five years.

However, the General Director of electricity provider Yasno, Serhiy Kovalenko, said that if generation and import opportunities remain at their current level, then the system’s deficit will reach about 35%.
