Slovenia will hand over a large number of its main T-72 battle tanks to Ukraine. In return, it will receive Marder infantry fighting vehicles and Fuchs wheeled armored vehicles from Germany, as reported by Tagesspiegel. The T-72 weapons system, which dates back to the Soviet era, is already used by the Ukrainian army and does not require additional long-term training. However, according to government circles, Slovenia has also asked Germany for more modern equipment as compensation, including the German Leopard 2 battle tank, the Boxer armored personnel carrier, and the Puma infantry fighting vehicle, which is being introduced in the Bundeswehr as the Marder’s successor.
