Within the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program’s framework, Ukraine works with Poland, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia through six western checkpoint projects, as reported by the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure.

The ministry added that these projects are intended to increase the capacity of border crossing points, develop export logistics, and optimize transport flows. The total cost of the projects approved by the European Commission is more than €200M.

“We are already working on developing new applications for next year”, said Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach. The projects will be 50% funded with funds allocated by the countries participating in the initiative and the other 50% by the European Commission. The program envisages the modernization of road and railway checkpoints and truck parking areas, as well as the purchase of customs and border control equipment.
