On Tuesday, the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyridenko, held a meeting with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) ministers, during which she announced the decision to start domestic procedures for updating the package of free trade agreements.
The revision concerns the free trade agreement between Ukraine and the EFTA states and the bilateral agricultural agreements between Ukraine and Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland. Kyiv seeks to include sections on small and medium-sized enterprises, trade and sustainable development, electronic commerce, and technical cooperation in the new edition of the EFTA agreement.
It is also proposed to update the sections devoted to trade in goods, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, simplification of trade procedures, protection of intellectual property, and public procurement.
