Ukraine negotiating position to join the EU.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishyna, since the war integration has become one of the key elements of the country’s survival strategy. The EU opened its borders to provide shelter for Ukrainians and has become the leading player in the movement of Ukrainian products abroad and provision of humanitarian and other aid to Ukraine. Trade liberalization has also significantly helped Ukrainian businesses. As a result, during the eight months of the war, the export of goods to the EU has increased by 6%. Stefanishyna clarified that Ukraine has fulfilled 65% of the obligations stipulated in the Association Agreement. “In 2023, we plan to lay the foundation and start the negotiation process regarding membership. In parallel with the fulfillment of political conditions, we will conclude additional agreements that will allow us to erase the economic and social barriers between Ukraine and the EU,” Stefanishina added.
