As the Ministry of Finance reports, this is the seventh tranche within the framework of the EU’s large-scale macro-financial assistance program with loan repayment in 35 years. As well, the EU will service the loan rather than Ukraine. This assistance, as in previous periods, is aimed at financing the state budget’s priority expenditures, particularly social and humanitarian functions.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, noted that since March 2022, the EU has already given €19.2B in aid to Ukraine. “We support Ukraine in its efforts to restore, rebuild and ensure the stable operation of the state. Today we transferred a new tranche to Ukraine,” the official said.
The next tranches within the framework of the large-scale program of macro-financial assistance are expected by the end of 2023, in consideration of Ukraine’s fulfillment of the structural policy conditions agreed upon by the parties.
