Ukrainian traders have begun to use the a virtual reverse procedure on the border with Moldova. They transport gas from EU countries through Moldova and then pump it into Ukrainian storage facilities, reported Operator of GTS of Ukraine. It is noted that the virtual reverse’ purpose is to optimize the transportation of of gas between transport system operators to satisfy the presence of demand for cross-border transport in both directions. In this case, operators carry out physical transportation in only one direction, and gas is transported in the other direction using virtual reverse. As a result, the fuel is not physically moved across the border, and the parties carry out netting, which is one of the most progressive commercial methods of the European market, among the advantages of which is the savings in fuel and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
