Ukraine’s iron production rose from the seventeenth to the sixteenth position in the global ranking of 40 iron-producing countries, according to Worldsteel. Since the beginning of the year, these global metallurgical enterprises have produced 838.4 million tons of iron, which is 1.9% higher than the figure for the first seven months of 2022. First place belongs to China, whose metallurgists smelted 528.92 million tons of pig iron (+3.5%). The share of Chinese pig iron in global production in January-July was 63.1%.
As for steel, Ukraine retained the twenthy-fifth position among 64 countries with a production volume of 3.43 million tons in January-July (28.9% less than last year). World steel production for the first seven months of the current year amounted to 1.1 billion tons, which is 0.12% lower than in January-July 2022. China is also the global steel production leader, with 626.51 million tons (+2.5%).
