Ukraine expects to cover the electricity shortage in its power system as much as possible by importing electricity from Europe. For this to take place a decision by ENTSO-E on increasing the carrying capacity of interstate crossings is necessary, said the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko. According to Galushchenko, there is enough electricity in the EU, however, due to Russian shelling there is a deficit in the Ukrainian energy system, which Ukraine would like to diminish as much as possible at the expense of increased imports. According to the minister, one of the critical issues of electricity import is its financing. “However, it is important to have another solution, the ENTSO-E solution, which would allow us to increase our import opportunities,” the minister added.
