Ukraine joining the EU.

Even before the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s full membership in the EU, the Ukrainian Parliament began work on draft laws, the adoption of which are necessary for EU accession, said the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk. He clarified that after the EU assesses Ukraine’s implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations for the start of accession negotiations, it will be necessary to comply with EU norms in 35 chapters, 33 of which relate directly to legislation. The parliament has already adopted the law “On copyright and related rights” and is working on draft laws protecting personal data and the environment. Stefanchuk added that the Parliament could provide progress assessments regarding Ukraine’s implementation of the mentioned recommendations at the Ukraine-EU summit on February 3 in Kyiv.
