Ukraine increased grain exports during the year, and several countries increase their imports.

In the 2022/2023 marketing year, Ukraine exported 48.99 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, reported the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. As of June 30, Ukraine exported 16.836 million tons of wheat, 2.704 million tons of barley, 18,000 tons of rye, and 29.128 million tons of corn.

During the previous marketing year, 2021/2022, Ukraine exported 48.355 million tons of cereals and legumes, including 18.72 million tons of wheat, 5.747 million tons of barley, 161,500 tons of rye, and 23.409 million tons of corn.

Over the past marketing year, Romania increased its share of Ukrainian wheat exports from 0.5% to 15.8%, and the export value equivalent for the year increased from $26M to $500M. The wheat export to Spain rose from 0.8% to 14%, and volumes soared to 2.5 million tons. Turkey increased the import of wheat from 10 to 20%, barley from 19% to 23%, oats from 0 to 4%, and vegetable oil from 3.5% to 19%.

China is also among the top five oil, corn, and barley buyers. Poland ranks fifth in the wheat buyers’ ranking, eighth in barley, and seventh in corn.
