Ukraine has taken another step toward European customs integration and increasing exports and imports from the EU.

Ukraine and the EU will share the same system for classifying goods.

The procedure for determining the country of origin of goods in Ukraine is officially compliant with the EU Customs Code. The new law, signed by President Zelenskyy, allows the temporary movement of goods through third countries if they are under customs control and kept unchanged. Certificates issued by the customs authorities of transit countries, which contain relevant information about the presence of goods, will be used to confirm this.

The new law will facilitate the simplification of export-import operations and their administration by implementing alternative rules of preferential origin as established by the Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin. This will make it possible to export a wider list of Ukrainian goods to EU countries and import goods from them to Ukraine at the lowest possible duty rates or even without payment of duty.
