Tripartite negotiations between Finland, Ukraine, and the US are taking place regarding the transfer of combat aircraft. However, achieving this objective requires US approval because the F/A-18 Hornet is produced by an American defense company.
Currently, 62 Finish F/A-18 Hornet fighters are in service, and to replace them the country ordered 64 of the latest F-35s from the United States.
The F/A-18 Hornet was the first all-weather fighter and attack aircraft designed for interception and close air support. The Hornet demonstrated its capabilities and versatility early during Operation Desert Storm. The plane shot down fighter jets and bombed enemy targets, proving its deadly effectiveness as a strike fighter.
