Ukraine has great potential to create a hydrogen economy.

Clean hydrogen is a new and universal energy source with rapidly growing demand projected for decades to come, and Ukraine can, and should, make the most of this trend. The USAID Energy Security Project (PEB) is assisting the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine in developing a National Hydrogen Strategy by supporting the reform and modernization of the gas market. Successful development of the hydrogen economy can bring significant benefits to Ukraine, including:

1. increased energy security by reducing dependence on natural gas
2. attracting direct foreign investment
3. strengthening European integration by promoting regional and international cooperation
4. heavy industry decarbonization and ensuring the country’s future exports
