According to Reuters, the EU will present a report recognizing Ukraine’s fulfillment of two of the seven conditions for starting negotiations on EU membership this week. The European community will also note the progress achieved by the country, despite ongoing military actions. The fulfilled conditions relate to judicial reform and mass media law. There has also been some progress made in judicial reforms, although there are still key reforms that need to be made.

The report, which has been labeled as an interim report ahead of a more formal assessment in October, will be presented to 27 national EU representatives in Brussels on June 21, and then at a meeting of European affairs ministers in Stockholm on June 22. Brussels put forward seven conditions for the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU, primarily regarding judicial reform and ending corruption.
