Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have signed an updated Free Trade Agreement. The expanded agreement includes additional positions regarding the liberalization of investments and trade, mainly the export of services. It is also envisaged to extend the scope of the agreement to goods with components from the EU, Britain, and Israel, which will expand the involvement of Ukrainian manufacturers in global supply chains.
In addition, Canada will allocate CAD 650M for defensive assistance to Ukraine over three years. The aid will comprise about 50 armored vehicles, including evacuation vehicles built in Canada.
The country will also send experts to train Ukrainian personnel on the use and maintainance of F-16 aircraft.
Canada also promises Ukraine substantial macroeconomic assistance in 2024 and to expand sanctions against Russia.
