Ukraine has asked the US for MK-20 cluster bombs

Ukraine expanded its request to the US for cluster munitions, which are banned in more than 120 countries, but not the US or Ukraine, due to the potential threat to civilians and indiscriminate collateral damage. According to Reuters, Kyiv is asking Washington for MK-20 aerial cluster bombs, which it plans to convert so they can be dropped from drones. This request is in addition to a previous request for 155-mm artillery cluster shells. Ukraine is counting on the DPICM cluster artillery’s effectiveness will help in the battles in the Donbas, primarily in stopping the waves of Russian infantry that are used to attack in the Bakhmut area. The MK-20s are launched from aircraft, deploy mid-flight and release more than 240 dart-like submunitions.
