Ukraine will guarantee the transit of oil from companies that are not subject to sanctions and is ready to settle the transit issue with Slovakia in accordance with the Association Agreement with the EU, Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak said.
At the end of June, Ukraine introduced sanctions against one of the largest Russian oil companies, Lukoil, prohibiting it from any activity on Ukraine’s territory and blocking the flow of its oil to the refineries of Slovakia and Hungary.
According to Andarak, Ukraine is “ready to solve possible problematic issues” if Slovakia activates the relevant mechanism in the Association Agreement with the EU.
“This has not been done so far,” added the Deputy Minister.
The head of the Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjártó, said that Brussels could be behind the ban on the transit of Russian oil since the EC did not respond to the appeals Hungary and Slovakia raised regarding the transit issue.
