Serhiy Minin, a representative of Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine, said that the company has already issued two approvals of technical conditions for the connection of biomethane plants in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Two more plants in the Khmelnytskyi and Chernihiv regions are at the approval stage. In total, 22 customers in different regions of Ukraine are planning to join the distribution network.
Naftogaz Group top manager, Oleksiy Lukashuk, said: “The potential of connection to the gas transportation system is estimated at 7.2 billion cubic meters, connection through gas distribution networks – up to 2.4 billion cubic meters.”
In addition, there is an option to connect biomethane plants through a network of gas filling stations, with a potential estimated at one billion cubic meters. In some regions, it is possible to connect through the infrastructure of Ukrgazvydobuvannya – about 1.2 billion cubic meters.
“The current infrastructure is more than sufficient for any rate of industry development,” he emphasized, adding that biomethane’s production potential in Ukraine exceeds annual natural gas consumption.
