Ukraine has given the US and UK a list of targets on Russian territory that it would like to attack with long-range missiles. Initially, Kyiv requested permission to use American ATACMS long-range missiles for attacks on Russian airfields, but the Pentagon explained that 90% of the planes that the enemy uses to bomb Ukrainian territory are 300 km from the border – beyond the range of these missiles. In addition to ATACMS, the Ukrainian military wants to use British Storm Shadow missiles and their French SCALP counterpart.
At the same time, according to satellite images, Russia, anticipating permission being granted to Ukraine, has withdrawn its combat aircraft from the zone that can potentially be damaged by long-range ATACMS missiles. However, it is noted that when the ban is finally lifted, many targets will remain available to Ukraine, including command posts, bridges, oil depots, field warehouses of ammunition and fuel and lubricants, and S-300/400 air defense systems.
