Ukraine can become the Eastern European gas hub with its increased production.

European gas traders avoid Ukrainian storage facilities after Russian attacks; Naftogaz  states it is operating as usual.

The war in Ukraine will force Europe into a new energy crisis.

Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk stated that the production increase is a crucial factor in reducing Ukraine’s dependence on global markets, while also raising the possibility of a stable heating season and becoming a European gas hub. According to him, the increase became possible through equipment modernization, the introduction of new technologies, increased protection for gas production facilities, and the introduction of new legislative initiatives to support the industry and attract investment.

Naftogaz Group companies produced more than 11 billion cubic meters of gas in January-September 2024 (+0.7 billion cubic meters compared to last year). Ukrgazvydobuvannya recently increased a well’s flow rate from 70,000 cubic meters to 170,000 cubic meters of gas per day using simultaneous extraction and separation technology. Applying this technology to other wells will provide more than 50 million cubic meters of additional gas by the end of the year.
